Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry concerned with alignment of the teeth and improve appearance. Orthodontics is devoted to building beautiful smiles by bringing teeth, lips, and jaws into proper alignment. Straight teeth function better, are easier to clean, and are more likely to last your lifetime.
Because crooked and crowded teeth are hard to clean and maintain tooth decay, gum disease and even tooth loss can result. Other orthodontic problems include abnormal wear of tooth surfaces, inefficient chewing function, excessive stress on gum tissue and the bone that supports the teeth, or misalignment of the jaw joints. These can lead to chronic headaches and face or neck pain. Orthodontic treatment by client can be less costly than the additional care required for treating dental problems arising as a result of orthodontic problems. For most people however a beautiful smile is the most obvious benefit of orthodontics. After your braces come off, you will feel more self-confident.
Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age, and adults especially appreciate the benefits of a beautiful smile. One of every five patients in orthodontic treatment is over 21. Adults may have experienced some breakdown or loss of their teeth and bone that supports the teeth and may require periodontal treatment before, during and/or after orthodontic treatment. Bone loss can also limit the amount and direction of tooth movement that is advisable.
Invisalign® works in a way that is similar to brackets and archwires by moving the teeth with invisable aligners to an appropriate place by applying a controlled force on the teeth. However, Invisalign® differs from other teeth straightening devices in that not only does it control the amount of force that is placed on the patient’s teeth, Invisalign® also controls the timing of the force application. Only certain teeth are allowed to move at different stages of the Invisalign® procedure. The movements that Invisalign® creates for the patient’s teeth have been determined by an effective orthodontic treatment plan that has been proven to work.
Overly crowded teeth:Â This occurs when there is simply a lack of room within your jaw for all of your teeth to fit normally. When left untreated, overly crowded teeth can cause dental decay, an increase in chances of gum disease, and can prevent the normal function of teeth.
Widely spaced teeth:Â This occurs with abnormal continued growth of the jaw bone. When teeth are missing, this issue can also be caused by the other teeth shifting due to extra space. Spacing issues in teeth can cause some periodontal diseases.
Crossbite:Â This occurs when the upper and lower jaws are both misaligned. It causes one or more upper teeth to bite on the inside of the lower teeth, and can happen on both the front and/or the sides of the mouth. This issue can cause wear of the teeth, gum disease, and bone loss.
Overbite:Â What people commonly refer to as an "overbite" is known to dental professionals as "overjet." It occurs when the upper teeth bite over the lower teeth. It's typically caused by either genetics, bad oral habits, or over development of the bone that supports the teeth. This issue can lead to gum problems or irritation, and/or wear on the lower teeth and can cause painful jaw and joint problems.
Underbite:Â This occurs when the lower teeth protrude past the front teeth. It's usually caused by undergrowth of the upper jaw, overgrowth of the lower jaw, or both. It can also be caused by missing upper teeth. This issue can prevent the normal function of front teeth or molars which can lead to tooth wear. It can also cause painful jaw and joint problems.
We will work with you to create a custom-designed program that will treat your specific dental or orthodontic issues. Your treatment program will consist of a full set of aligners, made for you, and only you.
Orthodontics can do so much more that just straighten your teeth. It can help in the treatment of headaches and TMJ problems. Both of these are mainly due to bite irregularities and severe wear, causing many of the muscles of the head to overwork themselves. The consequence is the onset of headache symptoms. Many patients contact us as a last resort to address their problems. As the patient’s bite is reorganized into the right position, muscle strain is alleviated, therefore correcting the source of the headaches.

This guy is awesome! I visited NJ (from NC) to see my dad and wound up with a dental abscess. I was miserable. Went to urgent care and given some antibiotics. But I couldn’t stand the pain and it was getting worse. So I looked on the good ol internet and found Dr Perle. I figured why not. I called and they scheduled me for next day. Then the secretary called me back and said he could see me that afternoon. I was so happy. I went and it was a little strange place. But he was fabulous. Very professional and knowledgeable. He thought “outside the box” to help give me relief and gave me appropriate medications. He said I needed to see an Endodontist and gave me multiple referrals (however, he helped so much that I choose to wait until I got back to NC to see my dentist. Which, when I emailed him for the xrays to be sent to my dentist, within 24hrs they were sent. I have never had such an easy and prompt communication). My guy even joked that we should go back to NJ to visit my dad so HE could see Dr Perle for dental work! ??. I recommend him highly. Thank you Dr Perle!!!
Thanks Dr. Perle for your amazing care. I am currently doing Invisalign with him, and he is priced well, and the service is top of the line. I also did three root canals, and crowns, and one extraction. He was gentle, caring, and most of all patient. R.R. is obviously a pessimistic fellow. He almost has never ever any thing good to say about anyone... so that tells you maybe something about him.
Great experience! NO wait time! Very friendly staff!
Dr. Perle is an absolute gem. A genuine, gentle and knowledgeable dentist. I actually LIKE going to the dentist now. Dr. Perle is an honest and caring man. His office staff is wonderful too. Stephanie, the dental hygienist is fantastic. They both take their time and make the patient a priority. Dr. Perle even took me at 9:00 on Saturday night as a dental emergency and I’ve been going ever since. I cannot say enough about Cambridge Dental. They have top notch technology. The office is immaculate. I’m grateful to have found him!
Dr. Perle was awesome if I could give him 10 stars I would. I woke up on a Sunday with a bad tooth I was in extreme pain. I checked the internet for a dentist that does emergency dental services I left my name and number on his web site , he called me back right away and set up an appointment for earlier that day .I was so surprised he would do this for me especially since I was not a patient of his. I have an extreme fear of dentist but knew I had to go. Dr Perle was fantastic I never felt so at ease in a dentist office. He was so knowledgeable and fixed my tooth in no time . I now have a new dentist that was so thoughtful to see me on a sunday. Thank you again Dr. Perle your awesome.
As a first time patient in this practice, I felt comfortable from the beginning. From scheduling the appointment with the receptionist, to the punctuality of the given time, everything ran smoothly. The staff was so sweet and nice and we're attentive to all my needs and comfortability. They were always looking to make sure I was not in the slightest pain. Dr. Perle himself Is so kind and warm. He gave me the time of day and explained all the procedures that will be done and the effects that I should be feeling. Everything he does is so gentle, all the while speaking to you in a respectful manner. I would recommend everyone to use him as their primary dentist.
for as long as I can remember I have had crooked teeth. as a young child (6 or 7) I remember hiding my smile from the world for fear of being bullied or made fun of. having to put my hand in front of my face every time I laughed or bow my head down to the floor just so no-one would see how bad my teeth used to be. I once told a friend in which I had served 4 years in the Marine Corps. with that I was going to start the Invisalign process and he laughed and said why waist your money your teeth are straight.... it became second nature to hide my teeth and I got so good that someone I had spent everyday for 4 years and served 2 tours to Afghanistan with had absolutely no idea that I had crooked teeth. i was always fearful of being an adult with a mouth full of braces but I didn't think Invisalign could fix such an overlapping smile. I saw an ad for a free consultation and decided to just see what would happen. next thing I knew my first set of aligners came in and honestly with a blink of an eye my teeth are perfectly straight. I honestly am not the same person anymore. I walk down the street smiling for no reason other then the fact that I am able to. I can legitimately laugh out loud freely. I don't have to be ashamed anymore. I sometimes don't think it is real. thank you to Cambridge dental in brick New Jersey for allowing me to live life worry free. I honestly cannot put into words what you have truly done for me.
My daughter broke 3 front teeth. The look on her face after seeing them repaired by Dr Perle was priceless! Thank you!
Sensational care is a term easily typed yet difficult to visualize. Suffice it to say, one can only hope for healthcare to follow Dr. Perle's lead in providing gold standard dental care in an impeccably professional and personal setting. My picture of a Harvard professor encompassed shades of hubris. Dr. Perle connects with patients, distracting me with fascinating banter that ensured zero pain throughout my dental procedure. For world class care in an individualized environment, I highly recommend Dr. Perle and his team at Cambridge Dental.
After almost a decade of finger sucking as a child I had a terrible overbite and spacing from regular tongue thrusting. For most of my life I was subconscious about my smile. A few of my friends and family members had completed Invisalign and I loved their results. One night I did some research on Google and submitted a few inquiries. Dr. Perle called me the very next morning and answered all of my questions. His excellent team walked me through the process and in no time I could see the results. Having confidence in my smile has definitely had a positive impact on my life, personally and professionally. To add icing on the cake, the pricing was very competitive! Over the time of my treatment I also attended regular dental check-ups at Dr. Perle's office. Cleanings and fillings were always painless, thorough and quick. Whether you are looking to improve your smile or find permanent dentist you can trust, I recommend visiting the Cambridge Dental Group.
