Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry concerned with alignment of the teeth and improve appearance. Orthodontics is devoted to building beautiful smiles by bringing teeth, lips, and jaws into proper alignment. Straight teeth function better, are easier to clean, and are more likely to last your lifetime.
Because crooked and crowded teeth are hard to clean and maintain tooth decay, gum disease and even tooth loss can result. Other orthodontic problems include abnormal wear of tooth surfaces, inefficient chewing function, excessive stress on gum tissue and the bone that supports the teeth, or misalignment of the jaw joints. These can lead to chronic headaches and face or neck pain. Orthodontic treatment by client can be less costly than the additional care required for treating dental problems arising as a result of orthodontic problems. For most people however a beautiful smile is the most obvious benefit of orthodontics. After your braces come off, you will feel more self-confident.
Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age, and adults especially appreciate the benefits of a beautiful smile. One of every five patients in orthodontic treatment is over 21. Adults may have experienced some breakdown or loss of their teeth and bone that supports the teeth and may require periodontal treatment before, during and/or after orthodontic treatment. Bone loss can also limit the amount and direction of tooth movement that is advisable.
Invisalign® works in a way that is similar to brackets and archwires by moving the teeth with invisable aligners to an appropriate place by applying a controlled force on the teeth. However, Invisalign® differs from other teeth straightening devices in that not only does it control the amount of force that is placed on the patient’s teeth, Invisalign® also controls the timing of the force application. Only certain teeth are allowed to move at different stages of the Invisalign® procedure. The movements that Invisalign® creates for the patient’s teeth have been determined by an effective orthodontic treatment plan that has been proven to work.
Overly crowded teeth:Â This occurs when there is simply a lack of room within your jaw for all of your teeth to fit normally. When left untreated, overly crowded teeth can cause dental decay, an increase in chances of gum disease, and can prevent the normal function of teeth.
Widely spaced teeth:Â This occurs with abnormal continued growth of the jaw bone. When teeth are missing, this issue can also be caused by the other teeth shifting due to extra space. Spacing issues in teeth can cause some periodontal diseases.
Crossbite:Â This occurs when the upper and lower jaws are both misaligned. It causes one or more upper teeth to bite on the inside of the lower teeth, and can happen on both the front and/or the sides of the mouth. This issue can cause wear of the teeth, gum disease, and bone loss.
Overbite:Â What people commonly refer to as an "overbite" is known to dental professionals as "overjet." It occurs when the upper teeth bite over the lower teeth. It's typically caused by either genetics, bad oral habits, or over development of the bone that supports the teeth. This issue can lead to gum problems or irritation, and/or wear on the lower teeth and can cause painful jaw and joint problems.
Underbite:Â This occurs when the lower teeth protrude past the front teeth. It's usually caused by undergrowth of the upper jaw, overgrowth of the lower jaw, or both. It can also be caused by missing upper teeth. This issue can prevent the normal function of front teeth or molars which can lead to tooth wear. It can also cause painful jaw and joint problems.
We will work with you to create a custom-designed program that will treat your specific dental or orthodontic issues. Your treatment program will consist of a full set of aligners, made for you, and only you.
Orthodontics can do so much more that just straighten your teeth. It can help in the treatment of headaches and TMJ problems. Both of these are mainly due to bite irregularities and severe wear, causing many of the muscles of the head to overwork themselves. The consequence is the onset of headache symptoms. Many patients contact us as a last resort to address their problems. As the patient’s bite is reorganized into the right position, muscle strain is alleviated, therefore correcting the source of the headaches.

My name is Aaron Bickel and they reattached a bridge that had fallen out. I found them to be knowledgeable about the procedure and he explained everything before he did it and did a good job and did what he needed to do. They got back to me very quickly which was good, it was at night on a Saturday. Everything went well. I would recommend them.
It was pretty emotional and traumatic experience as far as what I had done and why I had it done, but he (Dr. Perle) was great and the staff was great. They took very good care of me every step of the way and he made me feel comfortable. He explained what he was doing, why he was doing it, what the best way was and how did I feel about it. So it was a great partnership I think. He listened to what I had to say, and like I said I was very distraught about the whole situation and he definitely put me at ease.
My name is Madeline Smeaton. I was playing basketball and I knocked out my front tooth. We were looking all through Boston to find a Dentist and Dr. Perle was open and took me in on really short notice, which was great. He was really friendly and really nice, and his office staff was very nice too. They allowed me to come in the very next day and they did it so it looks normal so I didn’t look crazy. I think they did a good job, yes, I’d recommend them.
I had BriteSmile done. My husband had gone to Dr. Perle’s office for the same treatment; he’s gone a couple of time, so he actually referred me. I felt very confident they knew what they were doing. They were professional, the doctor was nice, and the woman who did it explained everything. It worked out very well. I would do it again.
My name is Martin McManus. I am a patient of Dr. Perle’s; I have been for a year and a half. Dr. Perle is very efficient and his staff is very good and friendly. We had a midterm correction which Dr. Perle was very professional about. I am very happy with Invisalign and I am very happy with Dr. Perle. I would recommend him to anybody.
After almost a decade of finger sucking as a child I had a terrible overbite and spacing from regular tongue thrusting. For most of my life I was subconscious about my smile. A few of my friends and family members had completed Invisalign and I loved their results. One night I did some research on Google and submitted a few inquiries. Dr. Perle called me the very next morning and answered all of my questions. His excellent team walked me through the process and in no time I could see the results. Having confidence in my smile has definitely had a positive impact on my life, personally and professionally. To add icing on the cake, the pricing was very competitive!
Over the time of my treatment I also attended regular dental check-ups at Dr. Perle's office. Cleanings and fillings were always painless, thorough and quick. Whether you are looking to improve your smile or find permanent dentist you can trust, I recommend visiting the Cambridge Dental Group.

Thanks Dr. Perle for your amazing care. I am currently doing Invisalign with him, and he is priced well, and the service is top of the line. I also did three root canals, and crowns, and one extraction. He was gentle, caring, and most of all patient. R.R. is obviously a pessimistic fellow. He almost has never ever any thing good to say about anyone... so that tells you maybe something about him.
Dr Pearl and his staff are wonderful I always felt comfortable even thru the height of Covid. I went for Invisalign and I am so happy. Thank you so much Dr Pearl.
Dr. Perle and his entire staff are warm and courteous. I don’t dread doing dental work because I know I’ll be treated with care. I also know I can be seen on short notice when I’m in pain and I truly value the severity that gives me.
Professional care, courteous & friendly staff.
I have been a patient there for years, and am very pleased.
Very professional knowledgeable and friendly
Everyone was so pleasant! Procedures and everything else was explained to both myself and my son politely, clearly, and calmly
The Hygienist Nicole is wonderful. I was traumatized as a child and have been scared to go to the dentist but she made me feel more comfortable with going more often. Also the Dentists are very thorough and informative and will explain everything and provide you with the best options for your needs. I was extremely surprised and pleased woth my first 2 visits.
Excellent experience with Cambridge Dental. Anyone who has ever had a toothache knows how excruciating it is. My husband was in severe pain with a toothache, and of course it was at its worst on a Saturday night, when no one is open. Cue the Google searches for "emergency dentist near me" and phone call after phone call that resulted in little to no help. Then, Dr. Perle from Cambridge contacted us back. He saw us at his office first thing Sunday morning, on his day off. He was thorough and very knowledgeable. Even though Dr. Perle was there to see us on his day off, we didn't feel rushed. We were so pleased with our experience and have already scheduled future appointments. I would highly recommend Dr. Perle at Cambridge Dental.
